The Temple of Longing September Gathering

Longing is not something to silence it asks to be heard. Sometimes it arrives as ache, sometimes as prayer, sometimes as the quiet sense that something within you is waiting to be answered.

This month in the Temple of Longing, we turn toward Joan of Arc, not only as a historical figure, but as a presence of fierce devotion. A young girl from 15th-century France, she listened to what she believed was the voice of God and allowed that listening to shape the course of her life. She stepped beyond what was expected of her, guided by an inner certainty that did not come from the world around her.

She said, “I was thirteen when I had a voice from God for my help and guidance.”
